The Pros and Cons of the Master Cleanse Lemonade Detox Diet
By Gabriel Killian Platinum Quality Author

The Master Cleanse Diet, originally developed by Stanley Burroughs, is a commonly discussed detox diet within many popular health and medical magazines, websites and other publications around the world. It has been the object of scrutiny as well as loved by many of those who have attempted and completed this detox diet. But what are the real pros and cons of the master cleanse lemonade diet, a.k.a the master cleanser, lemon cleanse, maple syrup diet, cayenne pepper diet and a vast amount of other names this detox diet has been given. The information below will discuss the commonly observed and studied pros and cons of the diet, starting with the cons.

Argued Master Cleanse Diet Cons:

1. Many argue the master cleanse lemonade diet to be way too extreme for some individuals. The idea of starving oneself of proteins among other important nutrients for an extended amount of time can seem extreme. Although "cleansers" and those who believe in fasting can argue otherwise, it is quite understandable that this be something to be cautious of.

2. It has also been argued that it is not necessary to "cleanse" the body. Many medical professionals believe that the body is completely able to detoxify the body on its own, without the need for such extremem measures.

3. Much like the Atkins diet, completely cutting portions of ones diet out of the picture, the master cleanse diet may be hard on body systems that have a hard time adjusting or getting acclimated to such. The belief that slow and steady wins the race and that moderation will serve its purpose over time adheres to this belief.

Argued Master Cleanse Pros:

1. Thousands who have undergone the cleanse claim a large variety of health and mental benefits including the following: Extreme weight loss and fat reduction (weightloss of 20-40 lbs. or more within a short span of time), mental clarity, allergy identification, total body detoxification (relieving years of built-up, pent-up waste), stabilized blood sugar levels, getting lean, more energy, more sexual vigor and stamina, stronger will power, the ability to break addictions (alcohol, tabacco, drugs and food addictions), a stregnthened immune system, relief of aches and pains due to body toxicity, cleansing of heavy metals within the lining of the colon, hormone regulation, and feeling and looking younger and healthier. Now depending on the source, the benefits could be more or less and is quite argueable.

2. The idea behind the master cleanse diet aka the master cleanse lemonade detox diet, is that the human body was never meant to be exposed to so much environmental toxicity from the foods we eat, the air we breathe among many other environmental facts. It is believed that the body stops functioning properly as we no longer recognize the foods we have natural allergies to. The cleanse was designed to help identify those allergies, rid the body of excess waste and therefore revitalizing and rejuvinating the entire body.

3. Many of those who have gone through the cleanse find that the first 3 days are the hardest as the body goes through most of its detoxification, but everyday afterwards, find it extremely easy to continue the cleanse as the body learns to re-adjust and continues to flush out the toxins from the body. Many people feel great even before the cleanse is half way through.

As with any diet, whether it is a weight loss diet or for the purpose of detoxification or just a general health plan, it is always advised that one speak to a medical professional beforehand. Doing so can minimize risks that can be associated with any change of diet or health plan. It is ultimately up to you to decide whether or not taking part in the master cleanse diet is right for you, but it is just as important to get informed about the decisions you make about your health. At the bottom of this article are links to master cleanse diet guides that can help you go through the cleanse properly and reducing or eliminating any health risks or adverse affects you have. If anything is worth doing, its worth doing right, so please keep in mind that if the master cleanse diet is attempted, it should be done strictly as directed.
